Artist:CHARLES FOUQUERAY (1869-1956). He was a painter, illustrator and poster designer. Fouqueray came from a long line of sailors, was the son of a naval officer and was appointed official painter to the French Navy in 1914. He was present at the Battle of the Yser recording the efforts of the marines and he spent some time in the Dardanelles which inspired him to produce many watercolours and lithographs.
