After the Battle of Neuve Chapelle, enemy shellfire became more vigorous and billets within a mile or so of the trenches became unsafe, at least for units having considerable transport, such as the Gunners and ourselves. Being shelled out of Fleurbaix, we moved to this farm at Rouge de Bout on the Sailly-Fromelles road, but it was totally destroyed by shellfire after only a few days occupation. Annotated on back of picture - our billet after the Battle of Bridou, May 1915, at Rouge de Bout which was forward of Sailly over La Lys, but we were shelled out three days afterwards and the farmhouse destroyed.
